Dr Gurvinder Banait graduated from the University of Manchester in 1989. He then became a consultant in East Lancashire in 2000 and moved to the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust in September 2009. His training included all aspects of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. His more specialised gastroenterology training has included work in a number of North West Hospitals including Hope Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary. Dr Banait is an experienced endoscopist in upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy with ileoscopy) as well as ERCP (a camera test used to look at the biliary tree and remove stones and insert drains into the bile duct).
His research was carried out at Manchester University (1997-99) and examined the management of dyspepsia and upper gastrointestinal tract symptoms. Dr Banait has also published a number of papers covering a wide variety of gastroenterology related subjects throughout his training and has continued to do so as a consultant.
